 Life overcomes death

In our spiritual blindness we don't recognise who Jesus is. We don't realise that this Man who rose from the dead is the Son of God; that He has power to change our lives. So many don't experience this new life because they are unable to believe in the greatest miracle of the Bible, the death and resurrection of Jesus. The Bible says there is a resurrection of the dead. Death is not the end; there is life after death, and it is up to us to decide our eternal destiny, here, on this side of eternity. The Apostle Paul taught in 1 Corinthians 15, 'For what I have received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day... If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. If Christ has not been raised, our faith is futile... If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead!' The Bible says that Jesus was the first and through Him, by His power, we shall all rise. Death is swallowed up in victory, death is overcome by life: we don't need to live in pain and torment about the 'afterlife', death is followed by life, for those who believe in Jesus.

Just as with the blind man in John 9, the tragedy is this, that in our blindness we don't recognise Jesus. We don't know who He really is. Oh, that God would open our eyes. Oh, that God would open the eyes of Russia and Europe. I have a great belief, the day is coming when the whole of Russia and Europe will see the Glory of God, see the power of Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Blind people experience the world differently; how can you describe to a person born blind what the sky looks like, or the colour of trees, the beauty of birds, all the wonders around us? For someone who has never seen, they cannot know and appreciate the beauty of creation in all its vivid colours. It is just like that with Jesus, this blind man in John 9 didn't recognise Jesus, but Jesus opened his eyes. The moment he could seem his testimony became, 'once I was blind but now I can see'. Jesus opened his eyes physically and spiritually.

Oh, that God would open our eyes to see the wonder of His majesty, to fully comprehend His greatness. I want to declare to you, Jesus, the Son of the Living God, is alive with all power and authority. Put your trust in Him and He will give you hope for this life and the next.

'For in Jesus all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible... all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Jesus is the head of the body, the church: He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have supremacy... For God was pleased to reconcile to Himself all things through the blood shed on the cross' (Colossians 1:15-20).
