The outpouring of power on the early disciples as recorded in Acts 1&2 was a defining of the new Church, which only came into existence after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The purpose of this new Church, was to become the Body of Christ and to carry on the ministry of reconciliation begun by Jesus in His ministry and confirmation by His death which was the final 'Atoning Sacrifice,' thus making possible the reconciliation between a holy sinless God and the imperfect and sinful men, whom He had created.
