Dear Partner in evangelism,
We have just been celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. I have many memories. My bedroom in our home near Croydon South London overlooked Croydon Airport, a fighter base. I was 8 years old and watched some of the aerial dogfights from my window. I still remember a trick that the Germans played on the airfield. Knowing the Spitfire had a limited range, fuel could last as little as 30 minutes in the heat of battle, they sent Messerschmitt 109’s to engage the British, then as the Spitfires landed to refuel, the Germans sent in their Heinkel bombers to destroy the planes on the ground!
I remember watching as the Spitfires struggled to get airborne, and the British and German pilots who bailed out as the aircraft were shot down. Later in the war I used to hang out of my bedroom window to watch the doodlebugs fly over my head on their way into London. Croydon was the most fly-bombed area. At first when the engine of the doodlebug cut out, it would glide before exploding, but later they changed, the flying bombs would crash as the engine cut out. This ‘doodlebug spotting’ became a dangerous hobby as one landed across the road demolishing one house and badly damaging mine!
We’re now in a time which none of us had anticipated – the government telling us how to operate our churches and our worship! Who could have imagined that a UK government could cancel Christmas, or that Israel would close its borders and cancel the Jewish New Year? However, our ministry is particularly strong In Israel where the families of the Holocaust survivors need your help more than ever because of a total lockdown since the recent increase of the Covid virus. Our teams of volunteers supply food and other necessities and use this as a means of ministry and bringing the Gospel into people’s homes, opening the hearts of non-religious Jews to the reality of the message of the Gospel of their Messiah!
In Ukraine, in addition to the evangelism, we have an ongoing programme to help those affected by the fighting in the East, where I have preached Christ on the frontline. We also support displaced children from the East, some of whom have lost parents. Up to 20% of children will be living in poverty by 2021 according to Ukraine government estimates.
Positive news from Poland: my meetings with the Catholic Bishops and Cardinals will be held as planned at the beginning of November. This is critical because the leadership have turned to me in some desperation as they recognise their failings and want me to introduce them to Jesus – then with their cooperation to reach the whole of Poland with the Gospel. This programme has not stopped, the Covid crisis makes it more necessary. See how God turns crisis into opportunity!
I am negotiating in at least four countries to openly evangelise, working with Christians who are bold enough to work with me! In November, I am invited to Warsaw to work with a church who will evangelise whatever it takes! Also, with your support, we are increasing our use of overseas TV channels, where we have the material in the local languages. Pray that lack of finance will not hinder us.
I am praying that God will open closed doors! After all, in my Bible God says, ‘I have set before you an open door which no man can shut!’ Please pray with me because I am seeking to find groups who will be bold and utilise what legal opportunities there are to evangelise. Because of Covid-19 and the economic situation, there are literally millions who desperately need the help which only comes through the Power of the Gospel we preach. I am spending time with the Lord to find ways to overcome the demonic spirit which is hindering large scale evangelism. I am already preaching every week on Christian TV, reaching thousands, but if I could use secular TV – as I used to do – I could reach millions of those who would never watch Christian TV. It is phenomenally expensive, but we already have evangelistic programmes, which mainstream secular channels would broadcast. The problem is resources, to get the slot we have to commit to a minimum number of months. This means a commitment of millions! These are the things which I need to pray about.
Fear has become an overriding problem in Britain, older people afraid to go out lest they catch the dreaded Covid-19, even school children were afraid to go to school. This is how Hitler and the communists ruled – by fear. I sense a lot of alarm bells ringing, I see that even Archbishop Welby is now expressing concern at the level of control from central government, he says that this has in effect never been experienced before. The big question is whether the pandemic, which is apparent, is being used as a tool to increase centralised control? Why is such control necessary when every day there are more suicides than Covid deaths, and more deaths from influenza and pneumonia than Covid-19 since 10th July. The government has no way to stop the Covid-19 virus, only trying to limit its inevitability.
For this reason, I urge you to get as many others to sign the petition to the Prime Minister for a National Day of Prayer because only God can change this. We are proposing to act, by holding another Day of Prayer in November, but desperately need more signatures on our petition to the Prime Minister! The purpose of the petition is to convince him of the truth that the most powerful force in the world today is the power of prayer – that’s in the wording of the petition! All the talk is about military action in the various ongoing wars, the need of scientific research to find a vaccine for Covid-19, how to use AI to replace humans, as well as how to stop the inevitable financial crash. There is only one clear simple answer to all of this, the power of prayer! With our All-Powerful, Almighty God who created the universe and all that’s in it, I want you to help me demonstrate this! We need to start by demonstrating the power of prayer to a confused, hesitant and unbelieving Prime Minister. And it needs a Day of Prayer to prove this! Yes, there are many ‘days of prayer’ over a multitude of issues, but I want to be single-minded, I want a desperate ‘God-moving’ prayer for God to answer by fire like He did with Elijah! We used to sing, ‘These are the days of Elijah’, but I always said, “Yes. but we need another Elijah today!”
Financially our expenses remain high because of our ongoing evangelism and TV broadcasts, and we anticipate a flood of massive evangelism as soon as the restrictions are lifted. Our preparations for this continue. Everywhere we are organising we are expecting God to move in mighty power as in a flood when the dam bursts! I need you to pray with me that we will have the finance in place to cope with it – we need to anticipate, build reserves and be ready! It’s coming.
