On 22 August, together with the Ukraine Pentecostal Church Union and Philadelphia Church, we held a special ‘Back to School’ service for needy children and their parents. Each child received backpacks and essential school supplies. The day was filled with fun activities, contests, and a time of worship; they were even able to learn some basic English with the support of a Christian teacher.

Each backpack contained exercise books, notebooks, drawing books, pens, pencils, scissors, colour chalk, plasticine, paper glue, erasers, pencil sharpeners, school diaries and other supplies.

Due to the continued conflict in East Ukraine, over 70,000 children are orphaned or deprived of parental care. Over 92,000 children have to study and live residential care because their families or guardians are unable to provide suitable care.
