In His Name we trust

There is one Name above all other names: I love to boast about the Name of Jesus. What a powerful Name, the Name of Jesus! The Bible says that in that Name Gentiles will trust - that is you and me! In His Name is healing, deliverance, restoration. Your miracle is found through trusting in that Name of Jesus.

I believe in the Power of the Bible. The Bible is God’s Word.

Then the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him. But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. (Matthew 12:14-15, NKJV)

What a contrast we have: the Pharisees were the religious leaders of the day, they were not a political authority. They were so opposed to the ministry of Jesus. What did Jesus do? The Bible says He withdrew from the Pharisees, and the crowds followed Him: and Jesus healed all the sick. So the midst of a crisis, Jesus neither fights backs nor shrinks back in fear, He simply focuses on His heavenly assignment of healing the sick.

Yet He warned them not to make Him known, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:

“Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My Spirit upon Him, and He will declare justice to the Gentiles. He will not quarrel nor cry out, nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets. A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench, till He sends forth justice to victory; and in His Name Gentiles will trust.” (Matthew 12:16-18, NKJV)

What a powerful statement! All Gentiles, not just Jews, but the whole world will trust in one Man. For 2000 years since this statement was made, there is one Name above all other names - I love to boast about the power of the Name of Jesus. It is not even that the Bible says people will trust in Him, but they will trust in His Name. What a powerful Name, the Name of Jesus.

And the Bible continues:

Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the Son of David?” (Matthew 12:22-23, NKJV)

When Jesus healed the man who was blind and mute, the miracle was very simple: there was no ceremony; they were not in the temple; Jesus was in the street. What an encounter this was: one moment Jesus was being criticised by the religious leaders, and on the other, there was a man who was both blind and mute. It is extremely difficult being either blind or mute, but to be both made his life one of great difficulty. And what did Jesus do? He healed the man! Faith in the Name of Jesus is all you need for a miracle; you don’t need to need to be in a special building, nor do you need the approval of other people; God works miracles in response to our faith.
