Healing touch of Jesus

One touch from Jesus and all that hinders you will be removed. When Jesus healed the leper in Matthew 8, in that one touch he was cleansed, healed and restored; that one touch removed the stigma and shame of his condition. That one touch brought emotional and physical healing. When Jesus healed the blind man in John 9 with one touch, his testimony of “once I was blind but now I can see” changed not only his life, but all those around him.

Behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. (Matthew 8:2-3)

I know the power of God to be reality in my own life. In 2003 I was diagnosed with lung cancer; the prognosis was not good. But I believe in prayer. God worked a miracle and I was dramatically healed. Jesus touched me. He took every part of that cancer out. I have the x-rays to prove it! One minute I was choking to death whilst lying in bed, and in the next moment I was completely healed. It is an amazing story. I only mention it here to say, one touch from Jesus and you will be healed!

For she said within herself, If I may but touch His garment, I shall be whole. (Matthew 9:21)

I remember many years ago I was in the far side of Siberia, in a city called Susuman. On the morning of the crusade I felt a very strong sense of the Lord’s presence and I knew that He wanted to demonstrate His love and power to these people who had suffered so much under communism. The response to the crusade was tremendous, every unbeliever coming forward to receive Christ, crowding up to the hastily formed barriers. Then after instructing them in the usual way I began to pray for the sick who gathered in desperate hope of healing.

With so many being healed amongst the crowd I can only remember the most outstanding. A man and a woman who were paralysed were healed instantly, as was a woman who had been brought from the hospital with crippled legs, able to walk only with great pain and the aid of a stick. This is where the biggest miracle of all began. This woman was so excited by her own healing, that at the end of the meeting she asked me to go into the hospital the next day to pray with the other patients.

Going by taxi to the hospital next morning, she was waiting on the steps outside. Completely healed, she could walk freely and without any pain as she took me up the crude concrete stairs and into the first ward. Looking around at the men lying on their beds in this room I realised the need. Although the staff in these hospitals are caring, it was the poor equipment and lack of drugs and medicines which gave an atmosphere of hopelessness.

I prayed for the man lying on the bed to my right as I entered who had multiple sclerosis. He was the one I had been brought in to meet, but he had no real belief. Next to the window was another man. I talked with him through my interpreter, asking why he was there. He told me that his back was broken, so I laid my hands on him, immediately all the pain left, he straightened himself and got up and ran off to make a cup of tea for me! By now the news of what God was doing was spreading, and another man who was almost blind came from a different room. As I laid my hands on his eyes, they opened and he could see. Someone brought a Bible which was by the side of one of the beds and he read it excitedly, shouting in his enthusiasm for all to hear, “I can see, look I can read!”

Due to the delays in leaving the city, I had time to go and talk to the mayor who had invited me to come to his office. He told how he was not a believer and that the Orthodox Church and the communists had tried to persuade him not to allow us to hold the crusade. “I did not listen to them,” he said, “I told them that if you could help us spiritually in the town and also help to reduce the problem we have with crime, that you should be free to come. By the way, I heard what happened in the hospital yesterday, thank you for emptying one of the wards!” - I later discovered that the blind man was who healed went into the hospital wards, read the Bible, and as a result the patients were healed!

You too can be healed by one touch from Jesus. How do we touch Him today? We touch Him through prayer. As you call upon His Name, believing the promises of the Bible, you can receive a miracle. Never give up believing. Never give up calling upon His Name.

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him. (Acts 10:38)
