Jesus was exalted, the Kingdom of God extended, and the people of God set on Fire! Thousands of Christians gathered together in unity at The SSE Arena, Wembley on the 31 August 2019, for a Day of Prayer for Britain. Over 50,000 streams of the service have been recorded as prayer groups and individuals from the length and breadth of the nation, and some from as far away as Australia, South Africa, USA and Russia, joined the prayers on Facebook and YouTube.
Jesus’ last prayer was for the Church - to be one! That the unity of the Body, His Body, would challenge the unbeliever to believe! His last recorded prayer is not for the world, but that the unity of us Believers, the Church which is His Body, might be the witness to the unbeliever! Not merely the Gospel which we preach, but the unity which we have in Christ!
“My prayer for all of them is that they will be of one heart and mind, just as You and I are, Father – that just as You are in Me and I am in You, so they will be in us, and the world will believe You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave me – the glorious unity of being One, as We are – I in them and You in Me, all being perfected into One – so that the world will know You sent Me and will understand that You love them as much as You love Me.” (John 17:21-23, TLB)
David Hathaway writes, ‘Our Day of Prayer on 31 August was wonderful. To see, from the platform, a hall filled, the largest numbers we have experienced until now! The sense of unity and humility could be felt – for a day we became ONE – the Body of Christ on earth united in worship and prayer! Individual prayer is good, but united prayer is a command from God! In The SSE Arena we experienced the combination of Holy Spirit led music and worship and prayer, each contributing to bring the anointing. I know, God is answering our combined prayer in unity, it was like 2,000 years ago, we were of one accord in one place!
‘The blessing was this – the Holy Spirit did renew us, in power! For some it was a specific moment, for others it was a sense of the Lord’s Presence, growing as the day progressed. Jesus was exalted, the Kingdom of God extended, and the people of God set on fire!
‘Now, with help from some persons present, we shall be making an approach both to the Queen and Prime Minister – both have been sent the declaration which we made. I believe that action in faith must follow prayer in power. Calls are coming in all the time, one leader with us on Saturday says that he will actively work to bring ALL our Christian leaders together for prayer. My description of Saturday is BREAKTHROUGH! It has begun!’
