Online Day of Prayer for Ukraine

The fifth National Day of Prayer for Ukraine, held Saturday 6 June, was organised by the Ministry of David Hathaway in co-operation with all the main church denominations in Ukraine. This annual service began in 2016 in response to the armed conflict with Russian-backed separatists in east Ukraine. The event was even more significant this year, as Ukraine struggles with the global Covid-19 pandemic, and the continuing social and political unrest from the on-going war on its eastern border.

It was David’s vision from the beginning to unite all church groups in prayer. And for this, the fifth annual service, all Christian confessions participated:

•             Archbishop Svyatoslav Shevchuk – Greek Catholic Church

•             Senior Bishop Mykhailo Panochko - Ukraine Church of Christians of Evangelical faith

•             Senior Bishop Valeriy Antoniuk - Ukraine Union of Churches of Evangelical Christians-Baptists

•             Stanislav Nosov – Head of the Church of Adventist of Seventh Day in Ukraine

•             Grygoriy Comendant – President of Ukraine Bible Society

•             Vasyliy Raychinec – Senior Bishop of Ukraine free Church of Christians of Evangelical faith

•             Sergiy Debelinskyi – Head of the Union of Independent Churches and Missions of Evangelical Christians-Baptists of Ukraine

•             Victor Tantsiura – Head of the Council of Religious governance of Association of Missionary Churches of Evangelical Christians of Ukraine

•             Anatoliy Gavryliuk – Senior Bishop of the Center of Independent Charismatic Christian Churches of Ukraine (of full Gospel)

•             Anatoliy Kaliuzhnyi – Bishop of the Council of Independent Evangelical Churches of Ukraine

•             Philip Savochka – Senior Bishop of Spiritual Center of Christians of Evangelical faith “Salvation”

•             Borys Grycenko – Head of the Religious Center “Union of Jewish Congregations of Messianic Judaism”

•             Valeriy Reshetynskyi – Bishop of the Union of Evangelical Churches “Ukrainian Missionary Church”

•             Oleksiy Demydovych – National Bishop of the Union “Church of God of Ukraine”

•             Henri Madava – Senior pastor of the Center of Charismatic Evangelical Churches of Ukraine “Victory”

•             Andriy Tyschenko – Senior Bishop of Ukrainian Christian Church “New generation”

•             Andriy Bakala – Head of the Religious center “Union of Christian Churches of Ukraine “Word of life”

Because of Covid-19, the service was held online and broadcast on four Christian TV channels: CNL, New Christian, HopeTV and for the very first time by EWTN Ukraine – member of worldwide Catholic TV network. The event was also streamed on YouTube and Facebook in two languages, with sign language on the Ukrainian stream. A week later, UACulture broadcast the service in full to all Ukraine. During the service, prayer groups covering all Ukraine connected with one-another online to pray in unity.

The next step is to hold the National Day of Prayer for Ukraine in the Sport Palace, Kiev, on 3 October 2020.
