When I came to Christ, I woke up the next morning and jumped out of bed; why? I had a new life, I was born again. I belonged to Jesus! I drew back the curtains; it wasn't winter, it was summer; everything was different, the whole world outside that window had changed: the trees were a brighter green; the birds sang as they never sung before; the sky was such a beautiful blue; the whole world outside my window had changed overnight; it took me many years before I found the truth, it wasn't the world that had changed, I had changed. I was born again. Born into the Kingdom of God. A new life. Hallelujah!
That was only the beginning. Yet so many people never go beyond the beginning. There are some who have been Christians for ten or twenty years, but have never grown up spiritually. We've got to move on with God. We've got to know Him. We need to live with Him. We must possess the blessings of God in our lives!
Do you understand why some Christians are falling out of bed? Why? Because they stay too near to where they get in. We've got to walk into the blessing, to possess all the blessings of God, to enjoy the full life of God in Christ. It is not only getting saved. It is not only the forgiveness of sin. That is just the beginning. There is so much more. The Bible is so rich. So full of promises. I want you to 'eat' the Bible like you eat breakfast.
You've got to possess the Word of God. You've got to possess the blessings of God. But you have got to see them, you've got to know what they are.
Don't be like the children of Israel. They came out of Egypt. They were on their way to the Promised Land. It took them 40 days. There were two million of them. They stood at the edge of the Promised Land and never entered in. You know the story. Moses sent twelve spies. They all saw the same thing. The land was everything God had promised. But for ten of them, entering into the promise was too hard, so they wandered in the desert for 40 years.
I want you to understand that the same can happen to us spiritually. We read about the blessings of God in the Scripture, hear preachers teach on God's wonder working power. Yet we don't enter in. Be like the two spies who said, 'with God, we are well able to possess the land.' You can enter into that blessing too. It is far more wonderful than anything you can imagine. Don't just look at the blessings. Claim them for yourself.
'Although God's promise still stands - His promise that all may enter His place of rest - we ought to tremble with fear because some of you may be on the verge of failing to get there after all. For this wonderful news - the message that God wants to save us - has been given to us just as it was to those who lived in the time of Moses. But it didn't do them any good because they didn't believe it. They didn't mix it with faith. For only we who believe God can enter into His place of rest.' (Hebrews 4:1-3, TLB)
