Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again,[a] you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
“What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?”
Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.” (John 3:3-6, NLT)
The life of faith is a relationship with God through Jesus. Too many are relying on human effort as an entry into God's Kingdom. We depend on the finished work of the Cross and Power of the Resurrection! As the Apostle Paul wrote, 'For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort!' (Philippians 3.3-4, NLT.)
Our 'real' life isn't here on earth, we are looking forward to an eternity with Jesus. We are to forget the past, and reach forward to this new life with Christ. I want you to realise, whether you are in suffering, pain, or are facing death, that is only a looking forward to eternity; our resurrection into new life. Too many old people view their lives as behind them. No! Our lives are in front of us. I want you all to grasp the Power of the Resurrection, the Power of this Hope in Christ.
'I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us... He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like His own, using the same power with which He will bring everything under His control.' (Philippians 3.18-21, NLT.)
