God identifies with you

God identifies with you. The Scripture speaks about taking up your cross and following Jesus - the cross is not just us identifying with Him, but Jesus identifying with us. When I was in prison for Bible smuggling, I felt so abandoned by God. In the Lord’s Prayer it says, ‘Who is in heaven…’, I argued, “You are in heaven, but I am in a stinking filthy cell, don’t You understand?” Then God reminded me of the truth: He sent His Son to die a criminal’s death. Jesus understood my pain - He identified with my suffering.

There comes a time in all our lives when heaven feels shut. We’ve prayed for deliverance, but the situation never improves, or worse, if there is an answer, God says ‘no’. How do we pray in these situations? It is in these times we realise the truth contained in the Lord’s Prayer - He does understand, He does care, He’s our Father.

Glory of heaven on earth

God desires to reveal His glory here on earth. It doesn’t matter whether you are in a prison cell or in a hospital ward, as you begin to worship the Lord His glory will fill the room as He inhabits your praises. “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God” (Revelation 21:3).

Why is God going to answer your prayer this time? Why is it going to be different? I’ve known Jesus a long time, and I know from long experience that He cannot fail. Like the blind man in the Bible who cried out, Jesus will help you, when you call in faith. I urge you to trust Him.

Yet God does care! He knows our circumstances. He’s acquainted with all our ways. You are fully know and loved by God.

The same Power that raised Christ from the dead lives on the inside of you! The Power of God doesn’t dwell in Temples, churches, or other ‘holy’ sites; the Power of God dwells with us; all the Power of God is literally within you! As the Bible says, ‘The Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us’.
