Jesus is coming soon! What is happening now, in the very words of Jesus, are the signs and the evidence of the times immediately before His Return. God knows what is happening here on earth. He is not distant or remote. The only lasting peace will be when Jesus returns. When we look at the horror of war, it is easy to give into despair. But, JESUS IS COMING BACK! And I believe this must be very soon.
'What shall separate us from the love of Christ?... For I am persuaded that neither death not life, nor angels nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord!’ Nothing! This was to comfort me when I was in the communist prison, because the whole time I was in prison from 1972 through 1973, I KNEW that what I was doing, what had brought me into the prison, was by the WILL OF GOD! Whatever they did to me, however they tortured me and beat me – all the time I was there, I had the peace of God which passes all understanding! When the other prisoners were suffering – broken marriages, broken lives, suffering with the ‘prison-shake’ – the peace of God kept me, because I was persuaded, and I KNEW, that neither cancer, nor death, nor danger, nor principalities, nor powers, nothing – no height, no depth – could separate me from the love of God in Christ!
God chose us in Christ, before the foundation of the world! We have to understand the foreknowledge of God! BEFORE we were born, when we were in our mother’s womb, God foreordained a plan and a purpose for our lives! That we should be ‘holy and without blame before Him in love’! We live one day at a time, yet God sees all our days. I cannot over-emphasise the peace that I have, and the peace that you should have - and this peace is based on God’s foreknowledge!
Our confidence is in Christ! When we have faith in God, He takes away our fear. In Christ we have no fear of the past, the future, no fear of the virus, no fear of the devil – we have confidence in God! Scripture says, don’t throw away your confidence! Keep that confidence in the reconciliation we have with God – nothing can break our relationship with God, no evil can destroy what we have, we are one with God, reconciled in Christ – and that’s why Jesus Christ is so important in our lives!
In October 2003 David was evangelising in Almaty, the commercial capital of Kazakhstan. Someone told David that a missionary friend of his was dying in a hospital there, would he please go and pray? This man, Doug Boyle, an Australian missionary, was dying alone in an intensive care unit. David went to pray with him. 16 years later, who greeted David on arrival in Georgia, but this same man! We need to be more like Elijah. We have a prayer-answering God, but do we really believe Him? Do you want to see revival? All God needs is one man or woman who can pray like Elijah, who can believe like Jesus said. Do you know what the spirit of Elijah is? To me it is the power that a man can have with God. If you knew the power that you can have, you can call down fire from Heaven, see a nation repent in a day, command the rain to come and it will – that’s the power that God has given you. What was the ‘secret’ to the healing ministry of Jesus? His power and authority came from spending time alone with His Father. In those times of stillness, He received fresh anointing. On one such occasion the disciples were searching for Jesus because the crowds were looking for Him. As a result, Jesus dramatically healed a man of leprosy.
God’s Power is without limit. The same God who will heal the sick can calm the raging storm; with Him absolutely nothing is impossible. Ephesians talks about the surpassing greatness of His Power which is available to those who believe (1:19). When I had cancer, God healed me; when I was in prison, God set me free! - It all begins when we believe.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock... Jesus is calling for you. Don't let fear, pain and heartache keep you from Him. We all have problems in our lives, that is why God sent Jesus to live as we live. You are a child of God. Jesus is calling you by name. Just as blind Bartimaeus was named after his father Timaeus, so you carry your's Father's Name. You carry His resemblance, His presence: you are made in His image.
